Last weekend DC riders podiumed all three Freestyle BMX events at Dew Tour Salt Lake City—Corey Bohan grabbed 2nd in Dirt, Daniel Dhers won his fourth straight in Park, and Chad Kagy took 2nd in Vert. Here’s the breakdown by event:
In BMX dirt, Corey dropped a surprise on his 3rd run. On the second to last set he did a half-barspin 360, landing with his bars backwards. He took off on the next set and did a tailwhip—with his bars still the wrong way—and again landed with the bars backwards. A funky and unique trick for the three hit dirt competition, and a welcome relief to the monotony sometimes seen in that event.
For Daniel, the park win in SLC makes four straight Dew victories. He’s had to stay sharp throughout with some pretty serious competitors trying to take over his top spot. But with tricks like a can-can 720, a double whip transfer over the hip gap, a 720 over the spine, and a no-footed can-can to late tailwhip, the win was his once again.
The vert competition was once again next level with Chad and Jaime Bestwick exchanging 1-2 punches for the top spot. Chad’s first run saw a barspin to whip, double whip, a superman seatgrab Indian air, and a flatspin flair whip. When the scores dropped at the end of the second runs Chad had just been edged out for the #1 spot.
