Coming into the event he was the favorite, but thinking about Daniel’s track record, it’s important to remember two years ago he was a relative unknown on the scene. He exploded onto it with a win in Park at last year’s X, then multiple contest successes that followed.
After sliding through preliminary rounds, Daniel had a great go in the quick passed jam style finals. The course was hella tight and small, but despite a small-in-stature size the course served up a ton of options and lines. Daniel found enough room to get a double whip among other bangers.
About his last go, Daniel said, “After falling on my second to last run I just took a few deep breaths, focused, and dropped back in. I knew what I had done wrong before so I corrected it and put together a great last run. I was a few points behind after falling so I just needed to make sure I nailed the double whip and I did.”
He continued, speaking about his family in attendance from Venezuela, “I was so excited my mom could be here today. My parents have always supported me and it was great to have them here to share this with me.
