He’s done it again: Corey Bohan has earned his 5th straight nod as the Number One Rider of the year in the dirt category at the annual NORA Cup ceremonies. His DC teammate Daniel Dhers took his first cup, earning Number One Ramp Rider of the Year.
Put on by Ride BMX Magazine, the NORA Cup is the premier award a BMX rider can earn. Winners of the seven categories—dirt, ramp, street, flatland, racer, video part, video—are chosen by fellow BMX riders, giving extra credibility to the winners selected. As in years past, the NORA Cup ceremonies once again went down at the Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Looking at each of their histories over the last year, it’s hard to argue against Corey and Daniel winning in their respective NORA Cup categories. Corey’s a favorite amongst fellow riders, constantly credited for his smooth classic style (and a bag-o-tricks that contains a few no one else can do). And Daniel, well, Daniel’s won pretty much every ramp or park contest he’s entered over the last year… that’s after being a relative unknown a year and a half ago.
For Corey, the award last weekend puts him even higher in the annuals of BMX history… no rider has even won back to back dirt NORA Cups, let alone FIVE straight!
