5 QUICK ONES: CRAIG MAST

Here, part one of our three-part catch up with the young ams on the team.
1. You just moved from Ohio to Greenville, NC. How is that going? Has the move affected the way you've been riding?
Greenville is amazing! The weather, the people, and the ramps rule. Back in Ohio the ramps were small—I hardly ever rode anything above six feet. Greenville is the exact opposite—everything here is huge. Living here as forced my riding to evolve for the better.
2. You've made it into finals at every Dew Tour stop this year… that's a pretty
big accomplishment. Has anything changed from last year?
A lot has changed from last year. Like I said I moved to Greenville, and I think the fact that I'm more experienced with big contests has put my mind in the right place. I’m now able to relax more and focus on riding.
3. You were recently signed to the Pro Team for Eastern Bikes. How did that
come about?
I sent Leigh a letter about a month before the Jomo Pro contest asking him if he could help me out a bit, not realizing he would be there. After the contest I spoke to him about me and Eastern, and it went from there. Eastern's been pretty great so far. I love all the guys on the team, and the products are dope.
4. So many riders want to be a part of the DC Team. What's your favorite part
of being on the team?
I feel like part of something amazing—like I’m on a super team or something. Every rider on the team plays a huge role in BMX. They’re all people I’ve looked up to since I started riding. And aside from that, lets be honest: DC makes the sickest shoes!
5. You always wear a full-face helmet. Why is that?
Well I broke my jaw, knocked my teeth out twice, and ripped my chin open several times. I guess I’m just over killing my face.
